Frequently asked questions
Do I need any experience to start?
No. This is a first certification for beginners. Over two days you learn breath control, equalization, efficient movement and the safety skills every freediver needs, with no prior freediving required.
How deep will I go, and how long does it take?
The course runs over two days and takes you to a maximum depth of 20 metres. You progress at a comfortable pace toward that depth with your instructor.
How fit do I need to be?
You need to be comfortable and relaxed in the water and in reasonable general health. Freediving rewards calm and relaxation far more than raw fitness, so you do not need to be an athlete.
What can I do after Level 1?
Your Apnea Total Freediver certificate qualifies you to continue to the Apnea Total Advanced (Level 2) course, to join autonomous training, and to take part in coaching and fun dives at your level.
How is this different from the Molchanovs Wave 1?
Both are first certifications. The Apnea Total route is a faster two-day path to 20 metres, while Molchanovs Wave 1 is a more structured three-day course to 12 metres minimum. They are equivalent entry points into different systems.
Taught through two recognised systems
- Molchanovs: the wave progression
- Apnea Total: clear, focused levels
